Came to Virginia on the ship London Merchant in March 1619/20. First lived in Arrowhattocks (north side of James River) and finally settled
at Kingsland on the south side of the river, almost opposite Arrowhattocks, in the present Chesterfield County.
"In 1620, he arrived in Virginia and in 1632 returned briefly to England for the purpose, amongst other things no doubt, of trying to gain possission of
the Bull Inn, which he claimed ought, by rights, to be his, but of which he had been cheated by his uncle Robert Payne."
He lost the suit in Chancery.
Will dated June 20, 1678, probated in Henrico County, Va. February 20, 1681/82
